Allow me to give a short presentation of myself. My name is Asger Roejle Christensen, the new parttime research news editor at Danish Development Research Network.
I am an experienced journalist, just turned 65 years old. I am indeed grateful to DDRN for electing such a veteran for the job.
Throughout my career, I have primarily worked with foreign news – especially with Japan and East Asia, including development issues. I have lived and worked in Tokyo as a correspondent for different Scandinavian news media for 13 years of my life.
In-between my stays abroad, I have worked as foreign editor and news editor for Danish news media like Aktuelt, Ritzau and DR. As a young journalist, I covered education and science for the university paper of Copenhagen University.
I have extensive knowledge of Japan and East Asia, concerning history as well as current affairs, and I have communicated this knowledge and understanding in many different media through many years. I have edited thousands of articles during my many years as editor.
I am author of several books in Danish about Japan and East Asia, published in recent years, primarily in the field between history and journalism. I have been organizer and tour leader of a large number of tourist and study tours, and in recent years I have been established an active presence on several social media.
I am looking very much forward to this opportunity to give my contribution to the important work of DDRN and work extensively with development issues.
